How OptiLyn handles information. Last updated 8 October 2026.
OptiLyn is optical-shop software made by Teknoble Software Solutions. Each shop that uses OptiLyn (“the shop”) owns the records it keeps in it. We look after that information on the shop’s behalf and do not use it for anything else.
What the software holds
On the shop’s instructions, OptiLyn stores its customers’ names, phone numbers, prescriptions, orders, invoices and payments, along with the shop’s staff accounts and stock.
WhatsApp messages
If a shop turns on WhatsApp, OptiLyn sends messages to that shop’s own customers through the WhatsApp Business Platform — for example a welcome note, an invoice, an order-ready notice or a payment receipt. To do this, the customer’s name, phone number and the message content are passed to WhatsApp (Meta). We receive delivery reports and customer replies back from WhatsApp and show them to the shop. Messages are sent only to people who gave the shop their number, and only about their dealings with that shop.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with anyone except the services needed to run OptiLyn for the shop (such as hosting and WhatsApp), and where the law requires.
Security and retention
Access is by individual staff login, connections are encrypted, and each shop’s data is kept separate from other shops’. Records are kept for as long as the shop uses OptiLyn, and are removed on the shop’s request when it stops.
Your rights and deletion requests
If you are a shop’s customer and want to see, correct or delete your information, or stop receiving WhatsApp messages, ask the shop — or write to us and we will pass it on and help the shop act on it. To stop messages, you can also simply reply “STOP” or block the number.
